Endorsement
This is a good book by Gordon R. Lewis that deals with cults from a conservative, evangelical perspective. Gordon Lewis covers some of the most common ones such as Mormonism and Jehovah's Witnesses , but I found his chapter on Seventh Day Adventism the most interesting. Evangelicals have been divided in their views of Seventh Day Adventism. Some such as Donald G. Barnhouse and Walter Martin have been cautiously accepting of it. While others such as M.R. De Haan and John R. Rice have considered it cultic especially in their view of the gospel of grace, and their elevation of the Sabbath to such a central aspect of their beliefs. Lewis says unlike the LDS and the JWs , it's possible for someone involved with the SDA to be saved, but it's also dangerous because it's ripe with legalism, false doctrine and an elevation of a false prophetess, Ellen G. White. All in all, this is a good book, though a bit dated now, still I recommend it to you.
