Manual of Theology by J. L. Dagg (Hardcover)
Product Description
Historically, Baptists are not particularly noted for great Theological works. Our strong point has been Missions and Evangelism. We do, however, have two men in Southern Baptist history that are being rediscovered—Dr. James Petigru Boyce who was the principal founder of the first Southern Baptist Seminary, and now the reprint of this present volume on theology by John L. Dagg. Both of these great men were in the stream of that exalted system of Pauline truth which is nicknamed Calvinism. It is with great delight and encouragement that I see this present volume now back in print. All who long to see those doctrines that Dagg taught, that our founding fathers believed and preached, that Spurgeon preached, that John Bunyan preached, that the great evangelist George Whitefield preached and that Jonathan Edwards preached, thunder through America again will want to own and promote this valuable volume of John L. Dagg. If the theology of James P. Boyce, John A. Broadus, B.H. Carroll and John L. Dagg was true and Biblical in their day, it is still true because the Bible has not changed. Theology is the foundation of all true worship and all true witness. It is the foundation of our message and methods. This volume by John L. Dagg will take us to the Biblical theology of our Baptist fathers—the theology that was expressed in the London Confession of 1689 and later adopted by the Baptist Association in 1742. --Ernest C.
